Suzy Dexter groeide op in Brabant als dochter van een veehandelaar in een gezin van acht kinderen. Haar eerste liedjes schreef zij op haar achtste jaar. Na de middelbare school ging Suzy naar het conservatorium te Hilversum. Hier kwam zij in aanraking met grootheden uit de jazz als Sarah Vaughn en Ella Fitzgerald. Blueszangeres Bonnie Raitt en folkzangeres Joni Mitchell werden belangrijke voorbeelden. Tijdens en na haar studie schreef zij gestaag verder aan haar repertoire dat varieert van ballads en stevige folkpopsongs tot zwoele jazz.

In 2002 werd zij tijdens een optreden ‘ontdekt’ door Sander van Herk, producer en gitarist van Het Goede Doel. In zijn StuStuStudio mocht zij een mini-cd opnemen. Dit smaakte naar meer. Ze besloot dit in eigen hand te nemen en richtte haar eigen studio in. Vervolgens sloot zij zich op om het knoppenwerk in de vingers te krijgen. Zo ontstond de park-A-studio. Het eerste product is haar debuutalbum On the Moon. Bij het arrangeren en opnemen werkte Suzy Dexter intensief samen met bassist / gitarist Rob Hendriks.

Suzy Dexter was raised in Brabant, in the south of Holland, in a family with eight children. Her father was a cattle trader. She wrote her first song when she was eight. After secondary school she went to the school of music in Hilversum. Here she got acquainted with big names in jazz like Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald. Blues singer Bonnie Raitt and folksinger Joni Mitchell became important models. During and after her study at music school her song writing steadily progressed. Her songs vary from ballads and firm folk-pop songs to sultry jazz.

In 2002 Suzy Dexter was ‘discovered’ during a gig by a Dutch guitarist and producer Sander van Herk. He offered her a chance to make a mini-C.D. in his studios named StuStuStudio. The taste was good and she wanted more. Suzy Dexter decided to invest in her own studio. For a long time she locked herself in to be able to handle the buttons herself. This was the coming into existence of the Park-A studio. The first result was her debut album On the Moon. In the process of orchestration and recording Suzy Dexter worked closely with bass and guitar player Rob Hendriks.
